About Taylor Engineering

Our Story

Taylor Engineering Agencies Limited was founded in 1984 by E. Liston Taylor, a Chief Engineer with more than 20 years of dockyard experience and a commitment to delivering independent, objective, and technically sound marine surveying services. Built on the principles of professionalism, integrity, and practical maritime knowledge, the company quickly earned the confidence of shipowners, underwriters, charterers, and international organisations throughout the Caribbean.

Today, Taylor Engineering has grown into the Caribbean’s most established independent marine surveying and consultancy company, with offices and operational presence across Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Grenada, Barbados, and Jamaica. While remaining true to the values on which the company was founded, we continue to expand our capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the maritime and offshore industries, providing a comprehensive range of surveying, inspection, assurance, and consultancy services backed by more than four decades of experience.

Why Taylor Engineering

What Sets Us Apart

40+ Years of Proven Experience

Founded in 1984 by E. Liston Taylor, a Chief Engineer with two decades of prior dockyard experience. Taylor Engineering has operated continuously through every era of Caribbean maritime commerce — from traditional cargo trades to modern offshore oil and gas operations.

Broadest Caribbean Reach

Taylor Engineering operates through locally compliant subsidiary companies in various countries throughout the region — including, but not limited to, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Grenada, Barbados, and Jamaica — giving clients a single-source solution for multi-port Caribbean operations.

Specialist DRI Expertise

Over 20 years of specialist expertise in the safe transportation of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI A/B/C and D fines) to the United States and globally — working directly with shipowners to provide the technical expertise behind safe carriage of the cargo.

P&I Surveys & Claims

Retained by the world’s leading P&I clubs, underwriters, and oil majors to carry out surveys and support complex claims and dispute resolution across the Caribbean — from cargo shortage and damage to hull and machinery casualties.

Offshore Oil & Gas Solutions

Specialist support for offshore operators and their contractors — OCIMF/OVID vessel inspections, marine assurance, marine warranty survey, and dynamic positioning (DP) assurance, plus rig moves, towage, and cargo and fuel load oversight.

Advanced In-House Technology

We back our surveys with in-house technology. Non-destructive testing (NDT) — including ultrasonic thickness measurement and weld inspection — and borescope and confined-space remote inspection give precise, evidence-based results. Purpose-built marine software, developed in-house, keeps our oversight and record-keeping accurate and organised.

Our People

Leadership & Survey Team

Decades of seagoing, engineering, and surveying experience — backed by a dedicated team of locally trained survey professionals.
